Built in 1745 by Paku Buwono II, just before the division of the mataram Kingdom, this has been the residence of Solo’s royal family ever since. Partly open to the public, visitors can take the opportunity to view some of the Kraton’s royal heirlooms and other valuable items, such as weapon, carriages and figureheads from the royal barges. The Kraton is located eastern and of Jalan Slamet Riyadi.
